Les Baquiran founded Alpine in 2014 and prior he was a Principal at Park Hill, then a division of Blackstone where he covered North and South American investors and Funds in the Americas, Europe and Asia. Prior to Park Hill, he was a Managing Director at ISI Group (now Evercore), covering investors in the Americas, Asia and Australia, opening the firms’ first relationships in Korea, Brazil, New Zealand and Malaysia. He began his career at Brown Brothers Harriman as an equity research analyst. He holds the Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses.

Current and former advisor roles and memberships include Good Judgment Inc., the Council of Foreign Relations, Empire Angels, Toigo Foundation, Asia Society, The Chinese Finance Association, China Institute and Leadership Council Member of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA). Les has spoken at or advised on curriculum at schools including Harvard, Stanford, Yale and NYU. He graduated from Connecticut College with a degree in International Political Economy with study abroad and exchanges at Georgetown University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, US Coast Guard Academy and University of Cape Town. He is an Alternative Rock fan and musician and lives in New Jersey with his wife and four children.

Daniel Mueller, prior to co-founding the Latin American business of Alpine in 2015, worked for Moneda Asset Management, one of the largest independent Latin American investment managers based in Santiago, Chile, currently managing USD $8bn for global institutional investors. He led Moneda’s fundraising efforts in Latin America to both institutional and private investors, successfully multiplying Moneda’s AUM in the region by over 4x in 4 years and opening several key markets for the firm. Additionally while at Moneda he was responsible for the placement of investment funds for several third party asset managers to Latin American investors.

He began his career at Thomson Reuters in New York City, working in various sales & service roles mainly covering buy-side investment management and wealth management clients. He moved to Santiago, Chile in 2009 to lead Thomson Reuters’ commercial efforts there. Daniel graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business with a degree in Business Administration, is a CAIA charterholder and Founder and Head of the CAIA LatAm Chapter. He is Colombian-American and resides in Santiago with his wife and three children.

Diego Naveiro leads Alpine’s activities in Chile with a focus on the institutional market. Prior to joining Alpine, he worked for nearly 5 years as Senior Investment Analyst of Alternative Investments at AFP Planvital, one of the oldest Pension funds in Chile. He led Planvital’s investment activities and team responsible for Alternative assets, during his tenure identifying and analyzing investment opportunities across the Alternatives asset class spectrum. Responsibilities included performing due diligence on foreign asset managers and funds, as well as preparing and advising investment recommendations to Planvital’s investment committee. Diego has experience dealing with the Chilean AFP regulatory processes and the structuring of local feeder funds. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Andres Bello and an MS in Financial Markets from Rouen Business School in France.

Imtiaz Uddin focuses on project management and operations out of Alpine’s New York office. He coordinates and manages all research, diligence, and tech teams from idea generation to delivery. Outside of Alpine, he is involved with B-deshi, a mentorship program that connects successful Bangladeshi professionals with talented and motivated Bangladeshi-Americans. He is also involved with BangladeshTomorrow, a news publication focused on highlighting the achievements of Bangladeshis around the world. Imtiaz is a native New Yorker having attended New York University and Stuyvesant High School. Imtiaz also holds both the Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.

Jeff Jeon joined Alpine in late 2019 as an intern and later was hired as a full-time analyst in the New York office with a focus on project management and business development. He holds a degree in Financial Economics from Columbia University. Jeff also holds both the Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.

Arturo Hanono, with over 35 years of asset management experience in Mexico, supports all of Alpine’s fundraising and investor relations efforts in Mexico. Prior to joining Alpine, Arturo held the CIO position at various Mexican pension funds including MetLife, Invercap, Garante (Citigroup), CitiBanamex (Deputy CIO), and INFONAVIT (National Workers Housing Fund Institute in Mexico). Arturo is currently an investment committee member of Grupo Financiero Aserta and Banobras. He is a recurring contributor and financial analyst on the Mexican PE industry and Pension Funds at fundssociety.com since 2015. He holds a degree in Economics from Universidad Anahuac. He won first place in the National Securities Market Prize organized by the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) with his professional thesis in 1985. He has run 11 marathons and 10 spartan races in the last 20 years. He lives in Mexico City with his wife and kids.

Gustavo Portellinha, based in São Paulo, leads Alpine’s business in Brazil. Before joining Alpine, Gustavo had multiple experiences in investment management and business development. His background comprises managing investment portfolios for Brazilian institutional investors such as the Brazilian General Motors Pension fund (PREVI-GM) and a multi-family office. Gustavo also worked as a Product Manager at Nordea Asset Management in Luxemburg, covering emerging market debt and global equities. His latest experience was as director at Antler (Global VC fund), where he led the business development of the Brazilian fund. He holds an Executive MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics and a Bachelor’s degree from Insper. Gustavo is a CAIA Charterholder.

Josmaly Gil, focuses on project management and operations supporting Alpine’s LATAM business out of the Santiago office. Prior to joining Alpine, she has over 10 years of experience mainly in the consumer retail sector having worked in commercial planning, sales administration and business analyst roles at several multinational firms such as LG Electronics. Josmaly is Venezuelan and holds a degree in computer engineering from Instituto Universitario de Tecnología Venezuela.

Juan Ignacio Salgado is an analyst in Alpine’s Santiago office. He focuses on investment analysis, research, and due diligence, and provides general business support to Alpine’s Latin American operations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Universidad Adolfo Ibañez (Santiago, Chile) and a Master’s Degree in Finance from the same University. Before joining Alpine, Juan Ignacio was an intern at a Chilean multi-family office. Outside the office he likes training martial arts such as Muay Thai and Boxing.

Punita Kumar-Sinha has a career spanning over 25 years focused on investment management and corporate governance. She maintains broad relationships in Asia, particularly in India where she led some of the first foreign investments into the local market. She is the founder of Pacific Paradigm Advisors (PPA), an independent investment advisory and management firm focused on Asia. She is also a Senior Advisor and serves as an independent director on boards of public and private companies in India. Prior to PPA, she was a Senior Managing Director at the Blackstone Group, leading Blackstone Asia Advisors and serving as the CIO for The India Fund (NYSE:IFN), the largest India Fund in the US for almost 15 years, The Asia Tigers Fund (NYSE:GRR), and The Asia Opportunities Fund.

Prior to Blackstone she was a managing director and senior portfolio manager at Oppenheimer Asset Management and CIBC World Markets, where she helped open one of the first India advisory offices for a foreign firm. She also worked at Batterymarch (Legg Mason), Standish Ayer & Wood (BNY Mellon), J.P. Morgan and IFC/World Bank.

She has been featured in the media, including: Financial Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Forbes, CNN, CNBC, Fox News, Bloomberg and The Economic Times. She has anchored the Indian TV series on ET NOW on various global markets and key Indian policy issues. She has a Ph.D. and a Masters in Finance from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She received her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and was awarded the prestigious “Distinguished Alumni Award” from IIT. She has an MBA from Drexel University and is a CFA Charterholder. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and an enthusiast of Indian dance and culture as well as women in business issues.

Joe DeLuca is a 24 year veteran of the investment industry with deep expertise in business development, market strategy, risk management and quantitative investing.  He currently works at Prospect Investment Group, a company which he founded to provide advisory services to asset managers and financial institutions.  Prior to that he was co-founder and chief strategist at Kepos Capital, a multi-billion dollar quantitative asset manager.  The bulk of his career was spent at two firms: Highbridge Capital Management/JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs.  At Highbridge, he was a managing director responsible for business development and product development which included conceiving, launching and locating seed capital for new hedge funds and alternative mutual funds.  At Goldman Sachs he worked in its risk department as well as its quantitative asset management department which managed the Global Alpha Fund.

Joe graduated with a B.S. from Cornell University and served on the Hedge Fund committee for Cornell’s endowment.  He is a published author, and helped to write and edit the book, The Practice of Risk Management.  Joe is an active comedy writer and comedian.

Warren Cathcart is a Senior Partner at Woodbourne Capital Management International, which manages institutional private equity and hedge fund vehicles with a primary focus on real estate and approximately C$1 billion in AUM. Previously, he was the second hire in The Blackstone Group’s Park Hill Real Estate Group. He spent a decade in Blackstone’s advisory team with Park Hill where, as a Director, he served as the lead project manager on over 30 investment mandates and brokerage assignments that collectively aggregated over US$60 billion in capital commitments. His clients included Blackstone Real Estate Advisors, Northwood Partners, Meridian Group, JBG Companies, Jamestown Properties, Meyer Bergman, Woodbourne, and several others. With Blackstone, in particular, he served as the lead project manager from Park Hill for over seven years as Blackstone Real Estate Advisors launched its debt business, liquids unit, core-plus strategy, Asian business, and multiple record setting mega-funds. He earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill along with a second major in English.
